Fire & Smoke Restoration · West Houston

Fire damage is layered — and it keeps working

A fire loss is never just the burned room. There is flame damage where the fire actually reached, smoke that traveled through the structure and into cavities and ducts, acidic soot residue that settles on every surface it touched, and the water the fire department used to put it out. Each of those needs a different response, and they have to be handled in the right order.

The damage also does not stop when the fire is out. Soot is corrosive — it etches glass, pits metal fixtures and stains finishes permanently if it sits. Suppression water soaks into subfloor and framing and behaves like any other water loss, which is why extraction and structural drying start early. Smoke odor bonds to porous materials and comes back whenever humidity rises unless the source material is removed rather than masked. Our restoration work draws on IICRC-certified experience in water, fire and structural mitigation, and we treat the secondary damage as urgently as the visible damage.

West Houston is our home base, so response here is fast — Memorial, the Energy Corridor, Briargrove and Spring Branch are minutes out, and we can board up and secure a property quickly once the fire department releases it. Owner John Baudry oversees these jobs personally, which matters more on a fire than on almost anything else we do: fire claims are complex, the scope is large, and the documentation has to be thorough and consistent from the first photos through the final invoice. Because we handle cleanup and reconstruction under one contract, that record stays in one place.

Common Questions

Fire & smoke restoration — common questions

How fast can you respond after a fire?

West Houston is our home base, so we respond as fast as possible and often same-day. Once the fire department has released the property we can board up openings, secure the site and start protecting what survived.

Can smoke smell actually be removed?

In most cases, yes — but only by removing the source rather than covering it. Soot residue has to be cleaned off surfaces, saturated materials like carpet pad, insulation and scorched drywall usually have to come out, and affected cavities and ducts have to be addressed. Deodorization is the last step, not the whole job, which is why masking sprays alone never hold.

Will insurance cover fire damage restoration?

Fire losses are typically covered, and fire claims are among the most document-heavy claims there are. We photograph and itemize thoroughly and work directly with your insurance company on covered losses. We are your contractor, not a public adjuster, so coverage decisions stay with your insurer.

How long does fire restoration take?

It depends on how far the fire, smoke and suppression water traveled. A contained kitchen fire may be cleaned and rebuilt in a few weeks, while a structural fire that reaches framing and roof becomes a full reconstruction measured in months. We give you a realistic schedule after the assessment rather than an optimistic one up front.

Is the water damage from firefighting covered too?

Water used to put the fire out is normally treated as part of the same loss. It also has to be handled with the same urgency as any other water damage — extraction and structural drying start early, because saturated materials keep causing damage long after the fire is out. Our restoration work draws on IICRC-certified experience in water, fire and structural mitigation.

Do you rebuild, or just clean up?

Both, under one contract. We are a construction company first, so after cleanup and mitigation the same team frames, rocks, finishes, paints and trims the space back out. There is no handoff to a separate rebuild contractor halfway through.
