Soffit & Fascia · Sugar Land, TX
Rotted fascia and damaged soffit let water and pests into the one place you cannot see. Free inspection and an honest scope.
Soffit & Fascia
Fascia is the board running along the roof edge that your gutters hang from. Soffit is the panelling underneath the overhang. Together they close off the roof edge and let the attic breathe — and when they fail, they fail quietly.
In Sugar Land the usual culprit is water. An overflowing or back-pitched gutter keeps the fascia wet, the wood softens, and eventually the gutter itself starts pulling away. Once there is a gap, squirrels, rats, wasps and birds treat the soffit as an open door into your attic. Humidity does the rest.
We repair or replace the affected sections, fix whatever caused it in the first place — usually drainage — and make sure the attic ventilation still works the way it should. If the rot has reached the roof decking, we will tell you that too.

Know the Signs
Soft, spongy or visibly rotting wood along the roof edge
Peeling or bubbling paint on the fascia board
Gutters sagging or pulling away from the house
Gaps, holes or torn panels in the soffit underneath the overhang
Birds, squirrels, rats or wasps getting into the attic
Water staining on the underside of the overhang after rain
Fascia rot spreads along the board and into the decking. Get it looked at free before it becomes a roof repair.
How It Works
We check the roof edge, gutters, attic and ventilation.
Usually drainage — fixing the symptom alone just repeats it.
Affected sections replaced and finished to match.
Ventilation verified and the site cleaned up.

Common Questions
It depends on how many linear feet are affected, the material, and whether the damage has reached the decking behind it. We quote in writing after a free inspection rather than guessing over the phone — partial repairs are common and usually far cheaper than homeowners expect.
Usually just the affected sections. We replace what is rotted and blend the finish to match the rest of the run. Full replacement only makes sense when the damage is widespread or the material is at the end of its life.
Almost always water that is not draining properly — clogged, back-pitched or undersized gutters keeping the board wet. That is why we fix the drainage cause, not just the rotted board. Otherwise you are doing the same repair again in two years.
Closing the gaps in the soffit removes the entry point, which is the important half. If animals are already nesting in the attic, have them removed first — then we seal it up so they cannot come back.
If it was caused by a sudden event like a storm, wind or a fallen limb, it may be covered. Gradual rot from long-term drainage problems generally is not. We document what we find and give you an honest read on whether a claim is worth filing.
